ABA Therapy

Evidence Based Care, Family-Centered Support

Supporting Children with Autism and Developmental Needs

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is a proven, science-based method that helps children and individuals develop real-world skills while working through challenging behaviors. We customize each therapy plan to fit the person we're working with, using focused techniques to improve how they communicate, interact with others, handle daily tasks, and remain in different situations, so they can live more independently and enjoy a better quality of life.

ABA can be provided at home, in schools, clinics, or community settings. Sessions are individualized, structured, and supportive — helping individuals lead more meaningful lives.

What is ABA Therapy?

Who It Helps

Most commonly, ABA is used with children and adults who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), but it can also help people with other developmental, behavioral, or learning challenges.

How It Works

An ABA therapist delivers therapy and is responsible for assessment and intervention. Therapists use positive reinforcement and structured teaching to encourage helpful behavior (like communication skills, social skills, daily living skills, problem behaviors). Individuals receive rewards as positive reinforcement to increase the specific activity or behavior that is targeted and measured.

Settings

ABA can be provided at home, in schools, clinic, or community settings. ABA therapy can also be offered as long-term sustained, intensive structured ABA, over a period of one to three years, to support sustained development.

Dr. Ritu Chandra

Welcome from the Founder

Dr. Ritu Chandra, MD, FAAP

Welcome! I'm Dr. Chandra, a pediatrician and the founder of Preferred Medical Group. My family and I are proud to call Alabama home, and I've had the privilege of caring for this community since 2007.

As a pediatrician, I've always been passionate about providing the best care for children, but I recognized the need for both primary care and mental health services, which is why I've made it a priority to offer these services alongside pediatric care in my practice. It's important to me that every family has access to comprehensive care in one place, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to support the health and well-being of our community.

It's truly an honor to be trusted with your family's health, and I'm grateful to serve this community with the love and care that it deserves. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives — I look forward to supporting you and your family for many years to come.
